Yowie Bay Public School alumni, students, and families tell our story and preserve our shared history for future generations. 

Kal Glanznig is one of Australia’s leading youth ocean and climate champions. TEDx speaker and creator of the documentary RISING UP, whilst in high-school he arranged a $100,000, 100kW solar panel system, then supported over 20 schools to follow suit. In 2019 he co-founded Plastic Free Cronulla, building a community movement that has helped achieve a legislative ban of single-use plastics. Kal recently co-created the Blue Minds program to empower young Australians to tackle eco-anxiety and become ocean leaders.

Kal was awarded Sutherland Shire Young Australian of the Year 2020 and Environmental Citizen of the Year 2023, he was part of the Youth Advisory Council for World Ocean Day and has been a speaker and delegate at the United Nations Climate Change COP the past 2 years. A passionate aquatic athlete, Kal has represented Australia in water polo at the Youth World Championships and was recently elected as an independent Councillor, the youngest in the Sutherland Shire.

Aston Reid

 

Aston Reid has been selected for the U16 Australian Joeys Football Team for 2025.

Jack Vanderhart

Jack Vanderhart is an Australian fashion model. Making quite the debut, Jack appeared in editorials for magazines such as GQ Australia and Vogue Australia in 2010. The Australian model’s vast portfolio also includes print work for ShortList10 Men, and HERO magazine. Jack has also appeared in advertising campaigns for brands such as Ben Sherman.

Marlee Silva

Isaac Humphries

Marlee Silva is a rising star in sports commentary and media. She has multiple podcasts and books under her belt and is a regular in Nine's NRL commentary team.

Her media prowess and die-hard love of rugby league culminate in her documentary debut, Skin in the Game.

 

Isaac Humphries is an Australian professional basketball player for the Adelaide 36ers of the National Basketball League. He played college basketball in the United States for the Kentucky Wildcats before making his professional debut in the NBL for the Sydney Kings in 2017.
